After Klopp, Liverpool officially announced the departure of 2 more players.

The upcoming transfer window is drawing near, which is also the time for clubs to make decisions about the future of their players. Most recently, Liverpool has confirmed the departure of center-back Matip and midfielder Thiago.

This afternoon (May 17) according to Vietnam time, Liverpool's official website announced the departure of two players, Matip and Thiago Alcantara.

It is reported that Cameroonian center-back Matip will leave the Reds when his contract expires at the end of this season. Matip has been one of Klopp's favorite players throughout his time at Anfield. Liverpool signed Matip in 2016, and the number 32 has made 201 appearances, winning several major trophies during his time at Anfield, including the 2019 Champions League and the Premier League the following year.

In reflecting on his time at Merseyside, Matip said: "I've had eight amazing years at Liverpool. I've been allowed to be part of an exciting history with a great coach and an incredible team at an extraordinary club. We've achieved major titles and had the best fans in the world."

"I'm immensely grateful for the wonderful time I've been able to experience with these special people, supporting the club and the beloved fans of Liverpool FC. We will always cherish it in our special memories."

Not only Matip, but Thiago Alcantara will also leave Liverpool as his contract expires at the end of this season. Thiago bids farewell to Anfield after 4 seasons, making 98 appearances and scoring 6 goals. During his time at Liverpool, Thiago won the FA Cup and FA Community Shield in 2022.

There's no doubt about Thiago's talent, but injuries have been his biggest adversary in the Premier League. Thiago missed 28 matches during the 2022-23 campaign, and this season hasn't seen much improvement either, with the former Bayern star only appearing once for Liverpool.

They will organize a farewell ceremony for the two players in their final home game of the season against Wolves. The match between Liverpool and Wolves will take place at 22:00 on May 19th according to Vietnam time.
