The French forward has turned down numerous financial benefits to pursue the goal of winning the Champions League and the Ballon d'Or.
Kylian Mbappe announced his departure from PSG at the end of the 2023/24 season. Although the player has not confirmed his destination, international transfer sources unanimously affirm that Mbappé will join Real Madrid.
Currently, Mbappé is the highest-paid player in Europe. According to The Athletic, he costs PSG around 200 million euros per year, including salary and bonuses.
However, if he moves to Real Madrid, Mbappé's income will significantly decrease.
Mbappe will sign a five-year contract worth 225 million euros with Real. His salary at Bernabeu will be approximately 15 million euros per season, equivalent to the highest-earning stars such as Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.
Furthermore, Mbappe will receive a joining fee of 150 million euros. Real Madrid will pay this amount over several years until the contract expires.
Thus, to realize his dream of wearing the Real Madrid jersey, Mbappé has to sacrifice many financial benefits. In the 2023/24 season, he even waived a loyalty bonus of up to 80 million euros. The forward wants to support the Paris club in covering the costs of recruiting a replacement.
However, the separation between Mbappé and PSG did not go smoothly. The relationship between the French forward and PSG President, billionaire Nasser Al Khelaifi, broke down over a speech.
Al Khelaifi was furious when Mbappé did not mention him in his farewell video, leading to a dispute that could even escalate into a confrontation just before the match against Toulouse a few days ago.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Mbappé will be announced as a Real Madrid player right after the Champions League final. The Bernabeu-based club will not have to pay a transfer fee for the world's top attacking star at this time. According to Transfermarkt, Mbappé is currently valued at up to 180 million euros.
