Eddie Howe has eased all concerns about Kieran Trippier's injury ahead of Euro 2024, England fans are feeling relieved
Just three days after the conclusion of the Premier League 2023/24 season, Newcastle and Tottenham had a friendly match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia, attended by 78,419 fans on Wednesday (local time).
Of note, Kieran Trippier and James Maddison both started this match.
However, the Newcastle captain was substituted off early in the first half, and he was seen icing his ankle on the bench.
England fans immediately reacted, especially considering that just yesterday, this defender was named in the preliminary squad for Euro 2024, a tournament in which the Three Lions have high hopes.

After the match, coach Eddie Howe admitted that the decision to start and substitute Trippier was part of the plan from the beginning and there was no serious issue.
"No, it was all planned. We talked to Kieran and thought the best thing to do was to start him," Howe said after the match.
"He's still in the early stages of recovery so we didn't want to take too many risks. Thirty minutes was always the target. He did well and didn't suffer any further injuries. Let's see how he feels on Friday. We always make sure we have a perfect plan for him in the early stages of his return."

Prior to that, Kieran Trippier's injury had sidelined him for three consecutive months. However, he managed to make a comeback in the final month of the season, playing almost entirely in the last three rounds of the Premier League 2023/24.
Kieran Trippier has always been a player trusted by Southgate in both wing-back roles in recent years, and his likelihood of starting as a left-back at Euro 2024 is very high, especially considering the significant doubts surrounding Luke Shaw's readiness at this point.
