Legendary coach reveals the only way to help England win Euro 2024

Glenn Hoddle says England could win Euro 2024 thanks to the French arrogance and German mindset.

As the coach of the England national team, Glenn Hoddle has built a strong and progressive team, but now he says that the Three Lions may keep an eye on their opponents when they know they are better than them in specific areas.

Glenn Hoddle looks back at Wembley Way - the road that has created many dreams of English football, only to end in tears. The former England manager says, "It really feels like our time has come."

He believes that the Three Lions deserve a kinder fate than what they received at the World Cup 26 years ago and asserts about England's chances in Germany this summer.

"There is a legitimate reason why we can compete with all the best teams in Europe right now because we have a lot of outstanding young talents, especially at the highest level," he says. "I just hope that we go into the matches with genuine belief that we are better than others."

"That's not the English way, but we need a bit of French arrogance and we need a bit of German winning mentality. We can look people in the eye in the tunnel and say, 'We're better than you'. Even if we're not strong defensively, we'll have more possession and the opponent can't hurt us if they don't have the ball."

"And the current squad has real depth, whoever Gareth Southgate chooses, if someone gets injured, the replacement will be good. Look at Geoff Hurst - he didn't start the 1966 World Cup with the team, but when Jimmy Greaves got injured, he seized his chance."

"The team also has the best passing player I've seen in many years, better than Kevin de Bruyne, I don't know how we got him, that's Trent Alexander-Arnold. He makes excellent passes."

"The depth reminds me of my 1998 squad, when I probably had 9 strikers to choose from and most of them couldn't start a single game. Robbie Fowler was hardly noticed because I had Shearer, Owen, Sheringham, Ferdinand, Wright, and Collymore. How do you pick the right one for all of them?"

It can be seen that Glenn Hoddle's assessment is entirely reasonable and logical at this point, because the people that Southgate possesses are beyond debate about quality - something they have demonstrated consistently throughout the season. What the Three Lions lack is the mentality, and if addressed, what else could prevent them from becoming champions in the upcoming tournament?
