MU press conference ahead of Newcastle match: Coach Ten Hag delivers good news, discusses the risk of losing Fernandes

On May 16th, MU will host Newcastle at Old Trafford in the rescheduled match of the 34th round of the Premier League. This is also the last home match of the season for the 'Red Devils' in the 2023/24 season.

Before the showdown with Newcastle, MU held a press conference. During the conference, Coach Erik Ten Hag provided some information about the squad as well as the internal situation of the 'Red Devils' ahead of the crucial match. One fact is that despite being out of contention for the top 4, MU still needs to win this match to compete for a spot in next season's Europa League.

Coach Erik Ten Hag spoke about the match against Newcastle: 'This is a very important match. You need to ensure your position, so winning is extremely important for the whole team. We need to do everything we can to win, and the players understand their roles and tasks.'

After defender Raphael Varane announced his departure from MU at the end of the season, Coach Ten Hag expressed his views on this event: 'We are planning for Varane's final matches. Not tomorrow, he's not ready, but maybe on Sunday. And then, of course, there's the FA Cup final. We want Varane to have a meaningful farewell.'

There were many issues discussed at this press conference, including the future of captain Bruno Fernandes. It is possible that the Portuguese midfielder will leave after realizing that there is no opportunity for development and winning trophies with the 'Red Devils.'

Speaking about Bruno Fernandes, Coach Ten Hag commented: 'This question is similar to last week and the answer remains the same. Over the years, Bruno Fernandes has been a very important player for Manchester United. He has created the most chances in the Premier League, scored many goals, and provided many assists. It is clear that Bruno is a very important player for us."
