The Road to Euro 2024 Finals for the Serbian Team: A Historic 24-Year Journey

Serbian team earned their ticket to the Euro 2024 Finals after navigating through a tense qualifying campaign. Let's take a look back at their journey to the biggest football event in Europe.

On November 19, 2023, Serbia secured qualification for Euro 2024 after a hard-fought 2-2 draw at home against Bulgaria in Group G qualifiers, as Montenegro fell 1-3 to Hungary in the simultaneous match. With this result, Serbia finished in second place, three points ahead of their closest competitor Montenegro, while Hungary topped the qualifying group with 18 points.

Despite featuring in four out of the last five recent World Cups, Serbia had failed to qualify for the Euros since 2000 (under the former name Yugoslavia), where they reached the quarter-finals of that tournament.

After the painful loss in the Euro 2020 playoffs, where they were defeated by Scotland in a penalty shootout, Serbia finished second in Group G qualifiers to automatically secure their place in Euro 2024.

With an impressive lineup including Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus, Dusan Tadic from Fenerbahce, and striker Luka Jovic from AC Milan, Serbia will have high hopes of making a mark at the tournament.
